How do you Cure Grey Hair - Prevent Grey Hair
82
Cure Grey Hair or Cure Gray Hair
Going gray is very natural and depending on your lifestyle may creep up on you quicker than others but there are ways you can prevent going Grey including improving vitamin and mineral intake, circulation and of course avoiding stress.
The cause of graying hair is due to a substance called melanin which is responsible for bringing color to your hair. Sometimes your body does not produce enough melanin or produces less as you age. Melanin is made from the amino acid tyrosine so if a lack of melanin is the cause this could improve your situation. There is usually no need to supplement with Tyrosine as you body will produce it from protein food sources.
Prevent Grey Hair - A look at your health and lifestyle
Climate and Climate change
Where you live and what sort of climate you experience can have a great impact on your scalp and hair. I’ve had a few friends that came from Thailand and where used to very hot and humid days come over to colder parts of Australia. They told me they could immediately feel the difference and so did there scalps and hair, suddenly there hair and scalp was getting much less blood flow and circulation.
So this leads me to the topic of improving circulation to your scalp and hair. Proper circulation ensures all those nutrients you get from your food are actually transported to your hair where they are needed most.
Increasing Scalp and Hair circulation and Overall circulation
The circulation of blood around your body is very important for bringing nutrients to each organ and body part. A lack of circulation is a very common reason for graying hair and is usually an easy fix. (There’s no point eating vitamins if they have no way of reaching your scalp and hair)
- Exercise daily and try and get that blood flowing
- Massage your scalp with your fingertips (not nails) daily for 5-10 minutes, will greatly improve circulation you will feel your head heat up.
- Try a circulation improver e.g Gingko Biloba or Nitric Oxide Amino Acid ( l- arginine or citrulline malate)
- Using a hair steamer or sauna is a great circulation improver
Try a green Superfood like Spirulina
Another very common reason for graying hair is a lack of vitamins and minerals , I believe the best way to cure gray hair is to take your vitamins in a natural source and I would recommend something like Spirulina , Chlorella or any other dark green vegetable.
Organically grown spirulina has very high protein levels as well as important vitamins, minerals and amino acid’s which can help greatly in preventing grey hair. A vitamin deficiency would be the main cause for people with graying hair who are aged below 40.

Increase Protein Intake and Amino Acids
Increasing protein intake is very important to help cure grey hair and it seems that a lot of people ignore the importance of eating a moderate to high protein diet. Amino acids are broken down form protein sources and used for many different functions including skin and hair health.
The main important ones for hair and skin are L-Cystine and L-Methionine and L-Tyrosine for the production of Melanin, but of course it’s important to get all essential amino acids in order for your body to produce non essential amino acids.
Hair Treatments to Cure Grey Hair
Hair treatments are a popular way to cure gray hair , hair treatments can be done weekly or once a month or whenever you feel your hair and scalp need a bit of extra care. The easiest method would be to let your conditioner soak In for 15 – 30 minutes to really nourish your roots and cuticles. Otherwise there are many homemade hair treatments to help cure gray hair and bring life back to your hair some of these are
- Egg Shampoo, High in Amino Acids and Protein , Mix 1 egg with water and apply to hair and scalp and leave for 15 – 30 minutes before washing off with mild gentle shampoo
- Store bought protein conditioner or deep hair treatment
- Coconut Oil on the hair and scalp
- Apply curd or Yoghurt to hair and scalp
Reduce Stress and Anxiety
Stress plays a big role in how our body’s look and how we feel inside, and how we feel inside will usually reflect in some way on the outside. I know its easier said than done but take some time in your day to relax and just think about something your looking forward too J.
I find a great way to relax is to do some mediation or I sometimes sit under my hair steamer and read a book.

Excellent tips. Im surely going to try them out. Thanks for sharing it.
I think there is no need for preventing the grey hair .Why people always try to prevent it?
Guess I will just have to act more wise to match my hair color! Ha!
I want grey hair, I want to look all distinguished. But I also want to keep my youthful looks. Guess I want to have my cake and eat it too! thanks for the info

Hi, good article. I once heard Gary Null, the famous naturopathic doctor, talk about how he reversed his graying hair naturally. He talked about how he juiced LOTS of leafy greens. I don't know specific remedies, but he said that it helped a lot. If you want to find out more, I'd check out his website or his books from the library, I'm sure it's there somewhere.
All the Best
I'll soon be 59 and can count the grey hairs in my head. I've taken spray vitamins exclusively for about 20 years and eat as nutritiously as possible. My not turning grey is not genetic because every other member of my family began to grey in their 40's. I contribute my lack of grey mainly to the Colloidal Minerals. I take the Multi, Colloidal Minerals and one other that I switch around between the C and Calcium and Omega, etc. Keeping your natural color isn't time consuming or expensive or thought provoking.
Can I get an answer to this question? if you already have greys can anything reverse the cycle...
definitly true people here go grey quicker bu they live longer here in Queensland Sun i think is a major factor..damage to skin as well as hair ! great hub i will incoporate some of your sugestion. the grey hair really suits the beautiful lady in the photo !
Very useful Hub for those who are concerning about their grey hair. This is provided with large number of medical tips indeed. Thanks a lot!
What is Colloidal Minerals and where to get it? What about Biotin pills?
my mother swears by fresh ginger. she adds it to almost everything she eats and at 69, she has not lost her color. I, on the other hand, have been sporting some new white hairs lately...I'm blaming them on my kids....maybe I should get out the ginger...thanks for your good, though provoking article.
It's not really grey! It's tin foil blonde! At least that is what my hair dresser is calling it. She said, "there is no need to fret, you're going blonde, tin foil blonde!" I laughed for days after that and realized that this stage in my life is way more better than being young, and dumb! I have earned every tin foil blonde hair on my head and proud of it! I wouldn't change a thing!
Thanks for the tips from you and those that commented!
nice article .keep it up
I hadn't thought about colloidal minerals helping with gray hair. I knew they were good for you but have not ever taken them. I think I will make a trip to the health food store and get some. Thank you for an informative hub. Maybe I won't have to color my hair as often to wash away the grey. LOL
Thanks for a very informative article.
I enjoyed reading your article expectus..,thank you very much.
I have been looking for a some kind of information like this for a long time. Thanks for providing such a one. It is very informative.
I liked your article.. expectus, contains writings that appeal to me.
some one upset when their has grey hair because itching . Preventing will help them, aren't ?
From now on, I'm smashing a raw egg on the top of my head when I shampoo. Maybe I should let my husband smash it for me. It might also release tension (his) :)
Thanks for sharing.
this is a wonderful article! Ive had gray hair since I was in grade school. Now in my early 30's I have noticed a Cluster of gray hair popping up all over! I will use some of these tips from now on!
From now on I will definately try to get more vitamins and proteins by natural sources. Lack of these is the only reason for my grey hairs that I have from school age.
Hi:
If the photo is of you I think you're beautiful with gray hair. I'm starting to get a few grays and it makes me mad. I'm coloring more often than I used to so I understand to a point. However, the folks that do allow their hair to go completely gray or salt and pepper usually look very attractive such as in your photo and Richard Gere, Judy Collins, and I even saw some photos of
Marilyn Monroe with white hair and she still looked amazing. I think that society has mentally screwed and skewed what we with is acceptable and what is not. This is why so many women have that "Martian look" today from too many surgeries.
Just my opinion but you look great with gray hair or another color.

I like your first phrase...'going gray is natural'. I am 55 and I don't have much gray at all, but I really believe it is because of the red in my hair. My dad is a redhead and he didn't start showing any gray until his 70's. My mom on the other hand, had black hair and she started going gray in her 30's. But even if I was more gray, I would never dye it like most of my friends do. Like you said...going gray is natural. Besides, I have earned every gray hair I have! : )
Since I'm a natural blonde, the grey doesn't show up as much, but it definitely is there. The grey ones come in coarser than my thin blonde hair. I think I'll give some of your suggestions a try. Taking more vitamins & minerals can help..also addressing the intestinal tract is helpful so that we can absorb those nutrients and water as well. Supplying the system with probiotics and fiber will address the integrity of the digestive system.
Thanks for this informative Hub!
I have litle bit grey hair on sideways but i am 26 year old and i think that it is very early to have it.I am using some products like restoria discreet but I am scary to use it becouse i dont know if this product have some negative effects in future on my hair.I want to try treatment whith egg shampoo every day , or what do you think what will be better to use , maybe Melan Plus ?
Why would you? Aging gracefully is very attractive in women as well as men. I don't suggest hair dye, it is poison and your skin is porous...studies show some danger. I don't suggest purple, green or blue for any mature women. It's scary!
Thanks for the article. Lots of useful info. Of course I have a little gray at age 37. However, the lack of hair may not render too much of a problem to the color. Nevertheless, for what I still have I will remember the tips
- joe
I am really impressed with your article expectus. I have been graying for some time, but I have chosen not to dye my hair. Society makes you think you have committed the worse crime when you don't, but I am learning to accept that I am growing older and wiser.
It is good to have a natural alternative to reduce or prevent graying. I am glad that this hub shows how it can be done naturally. The advantage of a natural method is there is an added benefit of good general health.
You have inspired me to write a hub on how to go gray gracefully. Thank you for your great contribution to hubpages.
Thank you for the article. I also think nutrition and vitamins will help many health issues. If people would spend more time on good nutrition and health supplements and less on things that are unhealthy like alcohol and substance abuse and unhealthy lifestyles, many of their problems would probably disappear.
I also think it is lack of circulation that causes people's hair to turn gray. Imagine if the whole body is doing what the scalp is doing - or that is, no circulation anywhere as we age.
I will try some of your suggestions and see if they help.
Wow, great info! Thank you - I'm trying these suggestions - Because PLUCKING them is not helpful & will leave me with an addition issue - bald spots to compliment the gray's. Thank you again, great info.
I always like it when people make claims and then back them up with proper explanations. Plus, most of these seem like they would improve your overall health and not just the look of your hair. Very good! ^_^
Good hub about How do you Cure Grey Hair - Prevent Grey Hair.
Thanks
Hi.. Is alcoholism connected to greying of hair somehow?
I found this article very interested. Thank you for your hub. I love it.
I am 28 and about 40-50% of my hair have gone white; especially around temples, crown and the beard area. I had white hair since I was 19 - severe typhoid is the alleged medical reason!
But the growth of white hair has doubled since I moved to North America from India (severe climate change), it wasn't that bad before. I have been taking all sorts of allopathic/herbal medicines from doctors/specialists in India and America and nothing seems to have worked in my case:( (already spent over $5k).
I drink and smoke socially but at the same time am an exercise freak, have always maintained a good body fat/weight ratio. I am a coffee/tea freak, drink about 5-7 cups a day. I do admit that stress plays a very important role - since recession began in US, I have had constant sleepless nights owing to the wall street meltdown and I have noticed that it along with other unknown reasons has quadrupled the growth of white hair and ageing elements. I am trying to overcome the fear of unknown by meditation and yoga.
Someone please advise if the hair that have already turned white can be turned black again and how do I prevent the rapid conversion before I start looking 40 at 28.
Thanks for the useful tips. Is gray hair a hereditary?
others hate their graying hair but i like it. But i don't want my hair to be all gray, i just like to c back hair with random gray. but great tips, thanks
Very informative hub! Will try all the tricks!
Thank you
thank you for the post. I am only 24 and half my head is grey/white. I've learned to love it but I also notice you were spot on on some of your points. Your Thai friends are like me (I'm Cambodia) and I live in New England. It can get very cold over here. Thank you for the tips. Very much appreciated.
Not gray at 61 because of lots of viotamins and minerals daily, I think.
Great information. All this time I thought it was completely genetic.
I agree with the stress factor, a bit of heredity and type of diet. My comment is about looking distinguished with grey hair. It seems that men have that luxury while women are portrayed as 'old' I just turned 49, married for the second time, now with 4 step kids and my 2. I've been told I 'need' to color my hair with young kids around. I guess so I don't look like their Grandma!
I think the 'old' label has to do with attitude and the way our hair is cut and styled.
I do color right now and keep saying I'll go 'natural' when I turn 50.....but I'm not so sure I can do it.
I think I will try the Greens and Protein approach first!
Thx for the great info--I feel like I have some hope now!
Natural remedy for grey hair, Let me try that. Thanks for the useful information.
dear sir.
my eyebrows getting grey ( random ) starded few months ago . What can do ?
Thank you very much Sir.
Thanks for the useful information & great tips.
What is chlorophyll ? Is it a cream or oil ?
good information and glad to see spirulina in there. I kind of forgot about it and need to get more. I didn't forget about a lil' grey area though.
wow wish I would have known this in my twenties when I went gray, don't think there is much hope for me now except for hair dye which I use every three weeks!
hey could u please let me knw hw to stop hair falling....i have grey hairs problems nd nw hair fall has also started is it just bcoz of greying of the hairs...can i stop it effectively witout ny side effect by using medicines????
I had no idea that you could "cure" grey hair! Thanks for the tips!
hi i am 21 years old (female),and i have seen grey hair when i was 14! not many but a few . now at 21 i have 50 or more, what approach should i take, i hardsly drink milk or eat eggs, can this be apart of it ?
Not about whether you are concerned with your looks and how old you look but about what your body is lacking in the way of correct nutrition and vitamins.
Hi I am from India I have Grey hair I want some remedy for this I also have Grey hair on my beard, please help be get out of this
Hey All
Don't forget to detox and cleanse all the toxins out of your body and don't re-introduce them either. Eat organic (no toxins), do regular cleanses, include lots of raw leafy veggies and fruits, (in smoothies is quick and easy) and vitamin and mineral supplements. Do the far infrared sauna and you will be amazed at how everything in your body will be so much better, let alone the grey hair reverting back to its original colour. Remember that all drugs are toxins so reduce their use or switch to natural ways to heal - with the guidance of a naturapathic doctor of course. As for exercise, rebounding, walking and swimming are excellent for circulation. Just don't swim in (or drink) water that has been chlorinated and/or flouridated. Both are very toxic, but of course, do your own research. Keep in mind who financed the study when you are researching. Good Luck!
They've done it. Scientists have cracked it! FOUND! The exact cause and cure for grey hair!
It's hydrogen perioxide blocking production of melanin! Hydrogen perioixde has damaged the hair. That's all there is to it.
http://www.nbr.co.nz/article/grey-hair-resolved-ou
Now that we know the exact cause of grey hair we can cure it completely! We know exactly how to eliminate hydrogen peroxide damage because hairdressors have extensive experience with people who have damaged their hair with hydrogen perioxide bleach! In theory, applying these same treatements should completely eliminate your grey and restore the natural color.
The treatment is a combination of deep conditioning and proteins to repair the damage, in combination with the application of the enzyme catalase to strip out the hydrogen peroxide - this particular enyme can be found carrot juice.
the yoghurt definately works. it makes your hair silky and shiny
If you are going grey the only thing you can do is color it. LOL

if there were a proven cure for grey hair, we wouldnt even be discussing its possibilities at this web site, if they were a proven cure it would already be available at your local chemist.
